| Dimensions | I just bought a 2004 Highlander and was so upset when I realized it didn’t have a cup holder. I am so happy I found this insert because it’s a perfect fit! I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and have been nothing but happy with it. The only issue I have had is with coke bottles because they are curved and sometimes get a little stuck when I try to pick them up, so I just have to push down on the springy part that hugs the drink and then pick it up (which is super easy and takes not even a second to do). I also want to add to please excuse the mess of my cup holder area, the previous owner had it filled with change that got wet and rusted or something because I can’t get it to clean out no matter what I try. |
| Model Number | Dealership wanted $55 for this part. I love my Highlander, but their drink cup holder situation has much to be desired. This part is pretty necessary. Take care of it by NEVER putting something too big in it and stressing it out, as the plastic on the edges that holds this in place breaks under duress. The flaps in the middle break easy too, so be sure to be really cautious when pulling a drink out that has a ‘waist’ on it like a plastic pop bottle. These cause those middle flaps to flex up (but they aren’t made to do that) and break. Key with a bottle with a waist or even a can or straight bottle that bends in under pressure is to pull the top of the bottle/can towards you a little so the flap bend DOWN first as you pull the bottle/can up so you don’t break the holder flaps. Little annoying for sure. But get used to it if you own a Highlander with this in it so you aren’t constantly replacing it. |
| Color | After looking through many alternatives for my cup holder after the original broke Jan. 2019 (2006 Highlander), I decided to give this a shot. IMO, there were a few cons to the original cup holder and was looking for a better solution. This product fits BETTER than the original, plus seems to be a little bit narrower (front-to-back, where the springed tabs are). I only figured this out because with the original part, I could barely fit a regular Nalgene bottle on one side (if the insert was set to one of the end slots). With this one, the bottle fits PERFECTLY without popping out every time I pull the bottle up. I wish I had known of this insert earlier! |

If you’re like me and your Toyota Highlander came without cup holders in the center console this is for you!I gave it 4 stars in durability just because it felt like cheap plastic that holding it made me doubt when I was going to insert it. But it’s holding up and now my car has two cup holders in my middle console and I am thrilled! My Toyota Highlander didn’t come with the original cup holder insert and now that I bought one I’m beyond excited to carry drinks in my car again without spilling or make shifting a cup holder for my drink. Some have said that it doesn’t—that’s understandable as once you slide it down you get to a point where it feels like you are going to break it but it’s not fully seated—(I took my chances and kept going) one more firm push and it clicked right in. I’ve not had it for long so I may feel differently about the spring hinged flaps in the future but so far so good. I can’t fit my 32oz metal water bottle in easily anymore, which makes me a bit sad.
