It is made of 18/8 stainless steel which means it is made of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, same as used in high end stainless tableware. So I did a temperature test to test how well it keep the water cool. The test was done with an ambient temperature of about 75 to 76 degrees in my house, so that is a fairly benign temperature environment. What I learned is I will need to add some ice cubes to keep the water temperature low enough for my preference for ice cold water.Now if you are starting off with very hot coffee, the temperature change will be faster than the chart above would indicate – because the coffee temperature compared to the room or ambient temperature will normally be much greater. In a way, it is double insulated by creating a small air gap by way of the slider that snaps into the center of the lower part that seals against the opening of the vacuum bottle. Furthermore, it doubles as a way to greatly reduce leakage if you tip it over – if you grab it in time. However, no matter how fast you are, it will spill some liquid – just a matter of how much. They left an air gap so air can get inside as you drink the liquid to make it easy to gulp your drink faster. To make it easy to clean, you just unsnap the lower center by pressing on it and you get two easy to clean plastic disks. |

I also have a Yeti that has a far better magnetic design, AND I can get a replacement lid if I bust or lose it. I liked this tumbler, but it does not last.This would be even better if it had at least a finger holder, if not a whole handle. Overall, it is very nice. Even with the top hole open, the fluids stay warm for hours. As a matter of fact, other than tipping the growler 🙂 over the top would be just as fine without the swivel slide piece. I rarely close it, but it is nice for driving, and is why a handle of sorts would be nice. It is tall enough to handle sliding into a cup holder and still handle a handle. The top is large enough in circumference that a small or medium hand can easily cause the carafe to slip when full of liquid.I would pay a bit more if these did come with a handle. The construction is high quality and I think the mugs are powder coated and slick. Another option would be a rubber grip around the upper middle of the libation holder. |

I wouldn’t have believed it but it truly works and so I had to test this with iced tea and I must say I filled this iced tea at 5pm and I left it on the counter to test and the next day at 11am the was still ice!!! This works just as great as the $50 cups. I absolutely love this thing and use it everyday. |
| Material | This is one of those reviews were people say they really want it to like a product. I’m not sure about most of you but in this house we use several tumblers a day and ease of cleaning is extremely important. the Tumblr itself is so narrow that I cannot use a dish cloth to clean it because you can’t get your hands into it at all. So that means using a bottle brush which is something I don’t use for the rest of my dishes. The second issue is the two piece lid … Constantly taking those apart and washing both pieces and reassembling them all just adds to the cleaning detail. Although nice to be able to fully cover it with the sliding lid, in reality I’ve never had an issue whether I use tumblers for coffee or cold drinks without a closing lid. It’s not a thermos so I don’t expect it to be spill proof and I drink my coffee in less than 3 hours so I really don’t need to be able to seal it off and have hot steaming coffee 6 hours later. The two piece lid is also taking away from the depression and well at the top of the lid which means it’s more likely to dribble andn spill while you are sipping out of it. I’m sure the 30 Oz is better but for me the 20 oz is a no deal as it is way too much of a hassle to clean and that lid is not worth the trouble. |

So far, it is a good size for me and it is definitely easy to clean. I was concerned at first about the lid because it’s a slider but I found that the top layer can be removed, which I took the picture of. So cleaning is definitely easy. The description did warn that it was not leak proof, not that I intended on putting it on it’s side or throwing it around but it’s good to know. I received this last week so I did not want to give it 5 stars in terms of durability but I’m hoping it will last. |
