| Dimensions | I purchased this item hoping to get a third cup holder. Instead, because the cup insert that actually goes in the existing vehicle cup holder is so small, I ended up still with only 2 cup holders. The extension cup holder is adjustable and holds a wide cup, however, if you put anything in it, the weight pulls the cup insert out of the existing vehicle holder and it topples over. So, the one holder is too small and shallow to hold anything and the extension is too top heavy. Wouldn’t recommend purchasing. |

| Material | I got this for my 2017 Subaru Outback, which has two cup holders on the center console. However, if you want to put a heavy monster drink in the outboard holder of this gadget, you are shopping in the wrong price range. It is just thin plastic, after all, and not designed for heavy weights. It will hold a modest drink cup just fine, and you can always put a heavy drink in the center hole. A comment about getting it snugly fitted: The outboard holder will only stay level with a load if you get the whole thing firmly wedged into the car’s cup holder. It comes with 16 dense rubber stick-on pads. I put four on the circumference of this device, spaced equally and set to just line up with top of the car’s cup well. Then added four more to double the thickness. It now fits into the well firmly with no forward or back wiggling. I used it that way for the first car trip. But the outboard holder was only lightly loaded for that trip. For a heavier load you would want to pad the bottom sides of the insert as well, to prevent the whole thing from rocking. The bottom is smaller in diameter, so you would need more pads than they provide. I suppose I could have cut the remaining eight pads in half so I could stack them to four thicknesses. Instead, I wrapped the appropriate amount of DENSE rubber tape around bottom, and it is now rock-solid. Don’t use soft foam, it isn’t rigid enough…. Works great. |
