| Dimensions | I have many Yeti Rambler Tumblers. They are great, however, the lid is not spill proof. Enter Hydro Flask Coffee Travel Mug. I was excited. I thought it would solve my problem. I thought it would keep my coffee hot while simultaneously offering a spill proof, leak proof design. Nope. It kept my coffee relatively hot, but holy moly…the lid!!! I took my first sip and the coffee leaked out between the two parts of the lid (mind you, the lid is like putting together the engine of a car with its many parts, but I digress) and all over the front of my white coat (I’m a doctor)! I risked a second sip after taking apart the lid and putting it back together. It leaked again. White coat ruined. I then held it over the sink to study the issue and the issue is, it’s a crappy lid. The coffee not only comes out of the top, where it should, but gushes out of the area in between the two parts of the lid. I am very disappointed with the design and my search continues for a travel mug that keeps my coffee hot and is spill proof. |

But, with this new top you can’t use a straw!I’m a big coffee drinker and I drink coffee with a straw so my teeth don’t get stained. With this new top, you can’t put a straw in. You turn it to the left and you can now sip it.There’s no direct hole into the cup.So, if you don’t use straws, then you’re good to go. The flask is still well made and will keep your beverage hot/cold with no problem. These are the best hands down. It’s just this new top does not work for me.I just went and bought another flip top separately and I’m now happy using my straws for my coffee again. |
| Color | UPDATE: Turns out the leakage is from upside-down installation of the red gasket. Unfortunately there’s nothing in the documentation describing its required orientation, but there is printing on the top side of the gasket. Insert it with the printing facing downward and you’ll get leakage. I’ve attached pictures showing the correct installation.I’ve raised my rating to 4 stars. I’d give it 5 if it actually held 16 ounces (the screw lug on the bottom of the lid prevents that) and the documentation clearly explained the requirement of the gasket orientation. I’ve also changed my mind on returning it, even though I’ve purchased an 18oz Yeti Rambler (which I like very much).Original Review ——-I had such high hopes for this mug. I’ve been using a stainless Starbucks travel mug with a carabiner handle for 20 years that is finally becoming too troublesome (and ugly) to continue with.This looked like an interesting design, and although some reviews mentioned leakage, others were glowing and reported no issues. I should have been less optimistic, I guess.There’s a red silicone gasket that sits between the sip top and the screw-on portion of the lid. I imagine its purpose is to prevent leakage. At that it fails. No amount of disassembly-reassembly and fiddling with the lid will prevent liquid from dribbling out between the sip top and screw-on section, and this happened on its VERY FIRST USE.I have a Hydro Flask water bottle which I love. These are premium products, so I can’t imagine how this design made it past QA. So disappointed … and the return process has been started. |
| Material | I got the Olive green color in 16oz and absolutely love it. In my opinion, 12oz is more of a kid-size and 20oz is just way too big, but 16oz is perfect and fits my hand just fine. The new lid is great, and has a built-in handle which is great for hikes. Plus, it’s easy to open and close. It keeps my drinks cold for quite a while, and goes the same for hot drinks, too. Just note that hot drinks stay hot/warm for 12 hrs and cold drinks stay at that temperature for somewhere around 24 hrs. Would definitely buy again or consider purchasing as a gift! |

With arthritis in my hands, I had to get my husband to unscrew the lid and even he had difficulty.I’ve ordered a different lid in hopes to salvage the use of this insulated cup.
