Titanium is a great material for strength, low thermal (heat) conductivity, and most alloys have great corrosion resistance. I thought there were no other materials, but there was a silicon (I believe) gasket for the cap. I was disappointed, but decided it would be okay.The deal breaker for me was the coating on the titanium. If it’s really titanium, why put anything on it?? An electro-polish on the inside would be nice to ensure a good surface, but whatever they put on it caused roughness on the inside that I could feel with my finger. I have no idea why this was done. It would clearly be a site for bacteria to grown and be very difficult to get clean after some time.I thought the size was okay, but definitely on the small side. I ended up returning it and getting a Klean Kanteen instead. I really wanted an all-metal wattle vessel, but it seems that doesn’t exist. I’m sure it’s tonight to affordable get metal on metal to seal without galling.Anyway, it was the paint, or hard anodizing, or powder coating or whatever that turned me off. If it were really a good Ti it shouldn’t need that. I wouldn’t mind discoloration if that was what they were trying to avoid. I don’t think the coating was titanium, which is the only material I wanted touching my water. |

First of all, this is from china, and you can find it with nearly half the price in chinese taobao, and probably alibaba.Secondly, this aren’t the quality stuff u might expect with the price tag, for me, i may prefer my old bpa free bottle more. It is however light weight and hard (i cant comment the titanium quality)Finally, and most importantly, this bottle has a metal-ish taste and smell, i cleaned it thoroughly, and tried to rinse it with water, and the smell just cant go away. Water filled in this bottle will be full of the metal / rusty taste. Mine ended up resting in the cabinet under the sink. |
