I’m impressed with the design, the way it looks, how it survives falls easily, and the mouth-feel. Yes, the mouth-feel of a mug is super important!You can have a mug that looks great but feels weird when you put your lips to it and that’s just such a waste! This mug is IMO the perfect mug in every way! My only wish is that they introduce more colors besides the more neutral colors they offer for more personalization.Definitely get this mug! It’s also super great as a gift too! |

Not only is this a fantastic product that truly works the way it’s advertised, but the company was great to work with! I will be buying future products from Hydro Flask and this Amazon dealer!UPDATE: Even my new mug does not hold heat the way my 22oz Hydro Flask does. The exterior on the 12oz coffee mug has a soft outside, not powder coated like the 22oz, so maybe the new design is just not as good. The mug still holds heat longer than a traditional mug but it’s not what I expect from a Hydro Flask. My recommendation would be to skip this mug and stick with the powder coated exterior. I still love my other Hydro Flasks! |
| Color | This 12-ounce mug does a pretty good job of keeping my coffee warm for at least an hour upon first brew. (I don’t recommend you keep drinking the coffee even after 20 minutes, as it tends to start getting bitter.) I use it for other things, such as many cups of tea and the occasional hot cocoa treat.The rubber texture on the outside keeps the cup from slipping and getting dinged up, though I mainly use it at home, not for camping as some of the pictures imply. It’s definitely not spill-proof, in case you’re wondering.The only complaint I have is the stainless interior stains very fast. In fact, it was stained after the very first time I made a cup of coffee. I don’t know if they changed the composition of stainless steel over the years but I seem to remember as a kid stainless steel not staining as easily as it does these days (hence the phrase “stainless”). I took away a star for this reason but if someone can explain to me why this is happening and that it’s at no fault of Hydroflask, then I’ll add the star back.That being said, Barkeeper’s Friend (a gentle abrasive cleaner) is your friend in keeping the inside shiny and scratch-free. I don’t recommend the brush from Hydroflask as it will not remove the stains. I ended up having to go to a sponge with Barkeepers Friend to really get at the stains. Even a gentler abrasive like baking soda did not work. |

I’m giving this product 5 stars because I accidentally put mine in the microwave yesterday. I brain farted.Anyway after the Microwave stopped I returned to the kitchen in horror realizing what I had done. I thought I killed my hydro flask and my microwave but surprisingly the only thing that melted in the mug was the handle. The metal ring at the top did not cause the microwave to short out or spark.I could saw the melted handle off and continue using the mug but I’ve already purchased a new one.This thing rocks! |

This doesn’t make it the ideal mug for the car, but it’s great for carrying and holding. Another thing I love about this cup is using it for cold beverages. My mom took a liking to this cup, so I purchased her one for herself for her birthday. She loves it just as much as me!
